We sometimes put our own dreams and desires on the back burner. We let our dreams die.
I guess sometimes in life you are more than happy to do this, to be with a certain person, as their happiness means more to you than your own.
To me there is nothing wrong with this, I’m a strong believer in putting other people before myself.
I know I would do this a million times over for the one I forbid myself to think about.
(Shit, I just did, damn I suck)
I once had huge dreams, dreams I was filling, but times change, I no longer want those dreams, now new ones have taken there place, ones that I would give my life for.
Those dreams are now so far away from happening, but do you give up on a dream, or do you fight with all your might to get our goal.
I know my own answer to the question, but Im a believer of the heart over the head. Now how do I change that ?
Haven’t you noticed how words can mean different things to other people?
You are trying to convince someone of what is wrong and what is right. Good and bad. Although, every time you do this, it turns into a very lengthy and unproductive debate. You both are solid in your belief and won’t budge, being unable to understand why the other can’t simply give in to what your saying.
I believe the main issue is that “good” to them might mean something completely different from your “good.” For them, it could mean always having correct and unselfish thoughts, for you it might mean just not hurting other people. And even with this, unselfish thoughts may also represent something different to you both. So how do you get anywhere?
Before you even get into a debate you must first layout and get an understanding of your perspectives. In most debates, the bulk of the talk is the debaters achieving a common understanding of what they are trying to express, and what they actually mean when they put out the word “Good” or “Moral.”
This type of thinking isn’t just for when you get into debates or arguments with people. Sure, people won’t always be able to see eye to eye, but you should understand that when someone says something that rubs you the wrong way, the whole thing could be a simple misunderstanding.
Think before you speak, and then go over the thought at least three times.
Open your mind and listen to what the others have to say.
Listening is the key to life.
An open mind also helps, and always follow your heart over you head.
A lot of you people can probably relate to this right?
Getting up for work, scrolling through the daily routine of things. A repeating pattern that seems so simple and unchanging and we’re all tired of it.
We’ll hope for the weekend to come because that’s the only time things change and get interesting (and you don’t have to wake up so freaking early).
We see most days as ordinary, bleak, and lifeless, life is simply passing you by, unnoticed.
When you went to work this week, could you describe what the morning air felt like, it’s texture? Did you notice the color of sunrise?
We walk through our days, weeks, and months in this way. Heck, some stay like this their entire lives!
If we could only will ourselves into noticing natures gifts–into being aware! We could fill our lives with an endless reserve of color and beauty.
It’s Not That Easy
The concept is simple, like most things, but it’s application is difficult. There are many ways to achieve this. One of the best methods (Which I try and use) is easy. Just take time out of your day and look around. Analyze. Feel. A few minutes is all you really need to do it. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to stretch the time limit. A few minutes becomes an hour, and then from an hour you go to a day.
You have to be able to recognise how you yourself are feeling and achieve at least the slightest bit of metacognition.
Just to give an example of what I mean, I’ll ask this – Have you notice that when you breath, the air you’ve breathed in is cooler than the air you’ve breathed out? That the grass sparkles in the morning light.
Probably not, right?
But that’s what I’m talking about. I’ll finish up with this.
If you want to improve how you feel in every day life, you’re first going to have to recognise what your feeling. After all, its kinda hard to heal when you don’t know the cause.
Look deep within you soul and see the beauty, the good over the bad.
