imagePassion is the fire that lights your way. Without passion, it’s impossible to progress.
The heart of human excellence begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you, and gives you a sense of meaning. Some resist this fact and think passion is just fluff.
Well that’s nonsense!
Honestly, some people don’t have a deep passion about anything at all. Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand, and without them, any happiness is only temporary, because there’s nothing meaningful behind it to make it last.
So remember, if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.
Only passions….great passions can elevate the soul to great heights.
If there was ever a moment to follow your heart and do something that matters to you, that moment is now.

A good snapshot stops a moment from running away.

625487_396524600411951_1035702504_nThere is something wonderful about looking through your camera and capturing a moment in time, a feeling or just something pretty.
To me, a photograph can speak a thousand words, it can make your imagination run wild but it can also make the most boring, most simple thing capture your mind.

When I hold a camera in my hand, I see things so much clearly, the world becomes beautiful again and life just seems some how different.

I guess I come to peace with the beauty around me and my mind’s eye starts to sore to new levels.
I can’t and I wont say I am the best photographer in the world. Can any of us?
I haven’t captured my all time best photo, because if I had, than why would I even bother to pick up a camera again.
I truly believe that we will never capture that perfect moment, that perfect photo because you have to always push yourself to do better.

Any way that being said, I wanted to share a few pic’s with you, some I have taken on my camera and others on my phone.
sadly I have backed up all my good photos on my hard drive, which has given up the ghost and I can’t get to them, gutted, all those memories have gone.
I guess it’s time to make happier ones, isn’t that what life is all about, making memories, living life to the full.
I do not know what my future is or even how long I have left to make those memories, as my health is not looking rosie but I’m determined to change things around and make the most of life as I know it.

So here goes, here’s a few snap shots for you to either love, like, hate, or criticize, what ever your views, they are yours and yours alone, I fully understand, that a photo will be loved by some and hated by many.
It’s art after all.
Our tastes are different and that’s a great thing.

Spice up your life.

imageOnce a week, I have either friends or family around for dinner.
I feel that I need to give my daughter a taste of family life.
She needs to learn and feel how sitting around the table to have meals is a social event not just a means to eat.
It also gives her a chance to show off her wonderful table manners – something that I’m strict about, to me there is nothing worse than bad manors when eating.

Today against my better judgement as I’m feeling a tad under the weather, I’m cooking a curry for a few friends.
I’ve become a little famous between my friends for this dish.
I thought it was about time I shared it with them so they can cook it for themselves as I won’t always be around when they fancy it.

So here goes, a dish to spice up your life.

Cooking oil.
2 1/2 IBS of chicken diced.
I large onion.
3-4 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped ( or lazy garlic)
1 inch of root ginger, coarsely chopped ( or lazy ginger)
1 tsp ground turmeric.
2 tsps ground coriander.
1 1/2 taps ground cumin.
2 tsps chilli powder (I use more)
I small tin of chopped tomatoes.
180ml of water.
4/6 whole chillies.
1tsp garam masala.
2 tbsps chopped coriander leaves.

How to cook.

Dice the chicken.

Place the onion, garlic and ginger into a electric food processor, blend until a smooth paste. ( you may need to add a tiny amount of water to the mix)

Heat the oil.
Add the liquidised ingredients.
Stir and fry for 5-6 minutes.
Add the spices ( not the garam masala)

And stir and fry for 5 minutes.
Add half the can of chopped tomatoes.
Add the diced chicken and stir and cook until the chicken changes colour.
Add the rest of the tomatoes.
Add the water and bring to the boil.
Leave to simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the whole or chopped chillies and the garam masala and simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove the pan from the heat and add the chopped coriander leaves.

Serve with rice.

Enjoy guys.

Our own path.

imageAs children, we are seldom told we have a place in life that is uniquely ours alone. Instead, we are encouraged to believe that our life should somehow fulfil the expectations of others.
That we should find our happiness exactly as they have found theirs.
Rather than being taught to ask ourselves who we really are.
We are trained to ask others for permission.
We are, in effect, schooled to live other people’s versions of their lives.

Every day is designed and developed as told to us by someone else!
And then one day when we break free to survey our dreams, seeking to fulfil ourselves, we see that most of our own dreams have gone unfulfilled because we believed, and those around us believed, that what we wanted for ourselves was somehow beyond our reach.

It’s time to unlearn these lies and make changes.
It takes courage to grow wiser and become who we really are.
But if you believe in yourself and your dreams, you have to chase them, you have to fulfil them and become who you really are, NOT who you are told to be.

Live learn and love for yourself instead of others.
How can we truly love ourselves and be loved by others if we have no idea who we really are inside.
It’s up to you and only you to find that, to find you.

Reminder to myself.

imageThere’s a lot of important time to be spent discovering yourself and this journey doesn’t need to be empty or painful. YOU need to fill yourself up with love.. self-love first.
Become a whole being on your own.
Go on adventures,
explore your passions,
wander around the city and see new sights,
sit in coffee shops and read,
write on bathroom stalls,
leave notes in library books,
dress up for yourself,
give to others who can’t pay you back,
smile and have fun.
Do all things with love, but don’t romanticize life like you can’t survive without someone giving it to you every second.
You can.
And once you give it to yourself, you will feel healed, and you will ultimately open yourself up to the possibility of healthy relationships with others.

Follow your heart

imageFollow your heart.
Be true to yourself.
Do what makes you happy.
Be with who makes you smile.
Laugh as much as you breathe.
Love as long as you live.
Say what you need to say.
Find the courage to feel different, yet beautiful.
Find it in your heart to make others feel good too.
Know that you don’t need many people in your life, just a few great ones, so don’t lower yourself and your standards for the wrong reasons.
Be strong when things get tough. Remember that the universe is always doing what’s right.
Recognise when you’re wrong and learn from it.
Always look back and see how much you’ve grown, and be proud of yourself. Appreciate all the things you have. Celebrate your small victories.

Be led by your dreams.

imageEach of us has a fire in our hearts burning for something. It’s our responsibility in life to find it and keep it lit. Because it’s far better to fail in originality, our own way, than to succeed in imitation every day of our lives.
Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams. Live the life you want to live. Be the person you want to remember years from now. Make decisions and act on them. Make mistakes, fail and try again. Even if you fail a thousand times, at least you won’t have to wonder what could have been. At least you will know in your heart that you gave your dreams your best shot.

imageWithout even knowing it you gave me forever, even if it isn’t the forever we dreamed about.
You gave me love that runs deeper than any other element.
You gave me ever lasting love.
Love which is now one-sided but it’s still forever.
Forever love for you.
Thank you for the love you returned and thank you for the happiest years of my life.
I thank you for being you.
My forever love, my forever best friend, my forever soul mate, just my forever.
I will forever love you.

Tickle your taste buds

imageThis is a totally different blog to what I normally write, but hey ho, I feel like doing something a little different.

In a bowl, mix the pork, garlic, shallots and minced jalapeño.

In a small bowl, whisk the lime juice, fish sauce, brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of Chilli sauce.

Let stand for 5 minutes.
Transfer the meat to a bowl and stir in the herbs.

Season with salt and pepper.

Top with the peanuts and sliced jalapeños. Serve with lime wedges, Salad or rice.

Salvation in music

imageAt times we all feel lost.
Finding a way to cope with that is a tricky one.
Music has always been a way for me to cope with my emotions.
It lifts my mood, from tears to smiles or even smiles to tears.

My friend Dan from FirstNamesMusic has been my salvation for a while now.
His music, always hits the spot.
I don’t know what it is but his voice, his lyrics and his kind nature seems to calm me.

The next two are his latest masterpieces.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
